Borrowing

Athens Regional Library System patrons can obtain library materials which are not in the PINES system.

Patrons are responsible for shipping charges and lending charges if the owning library applies them. Overdue fees for interlibrary loan items are $1.00 per item per day.

Use WorldCat to check item availability. Items not suitable for borrowing requests:

  • textbooks (some exceptions, but we cannot guarantee patrons can keep book as long as you want to)
  • new items (usually less than 6 months old, but some less than 1 year)
  • items from countries other than the United States (I can sometimes get items in other languages)
  • genealogy items (there are exceptions)

We can also submit requests for scans of chapters of books, articles, and microfilm.

To submit a request, contact Gretchen Elm at gelm@athenslibrary or 706-613-3650 ext. 2324.

Lending

If you are a librarian from another institution in need of Athens Regional Library System materials for your patrons, we prefer that requests be made via OCLC (lender symbol GRA). We do not send physical loans through any other method. If you do not have access to OCLC and would like to submit a copy request, please email Claire Dunn-Grandpré at cdunn-grandpre@athenslibrary.org.
