Overview

Preservation Week is a campaign set by Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures hoping to inspire people to take interest in preservation on a personal, family, and community level. This year, the Athens Regional Library System is diving into what individuals can do at home to take care of their own archive.

Taking care of your family heirlooms doesn’t have to be intimidating or only done by a professional. In this class, we’ll cover the basics of storing objects such as military uniforms, quilts, family Bibles, and photographs. We’ll cover what materials are needed to help keep your most precious items safe and how you can take preservation into your own hands.
