Ms. Pat is a part-time Assistant Librarian at the Madison County Library. She is now retired after a lifetime career in Early Childhood Education. When her boys were young she worked part time as the Children’s Librarian at the Madison County Library before the library on Hwy. 98 was even built. In fact, she helped the then Branch Manager, Jennie Ruth Echols, move the library to their current location.
The ground breaking and building of the current library in the 1990’s was exciting and rewarding. The current library is even more exciting with so many more events and opportunities for all ages. She especially enjoys subbing for Storytime and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities.
Both of her boys are grown with two children each. Time with grandchildren is so precious! Ms. Pat is also a big DAWGS fan since she has two degrees from UGA and taught there part-time before she became the Executive Director for a teacher’s association.
Her favorite pastimes are gardening and reading – mysteries are a favorite. Her azaleas and dogwoods have lined the front of her house in Madison County for the past 46 years and are simply lovely in spring! They are a reminder of the years she spent as an undergraduate in Knoxville, Tennessee and their annual Dogwoods Arts Festival. No question now however, although a VOLS fan when she was an undergraduate, there is no doubt that she is a diehard DAWGS fan now!
