Cory Momany, vice president of the Oglethorpe County Bee Club, will be giving a presentation about bee keeping and honey.
Cory will be speaking from Noon – 1:00 p.m. in the Oglethorpe County Library‘s Multipurpose Room on Monday, August 14. Drinks will be provided, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own brown bag lunch for this series.
Cory Momany is a Georgia Journeyman Beekeeper and owner of Flying Pigs Honey. He maintains 50 hives around the Athens area up to the foothills of the Smoky Mountains at Yonah Mountain Vineyard. As an active bee club member, he is currently vice president of the Oglethorpe County Bee Club, and has served as president, and secretary, as well as vice-president of Eastern Piedmont Beekeepers Association. Cory has won numerous awards in the Welsh Honey shows as well as Black Jar at the 2022 Young Harris Institute and several 1st place awards for best tasting honey in the local bee clubs. Cory makes his living as an Associate Professor in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Georgia.
Cory is the first presenter in the library’s new educational “Lunch and Learn” series sponsored by The Friends of the Oglethorpe Library. These presentations will be held at noon on the second Monday of each month until the end of the year.
