Memorials, Mysteries & More

A Memorial Day Treat

If you’ve dropped by the Bogart Library lately, you may have noticed LOTS of excited children and teens. Our Summer Reading Program is underway! And, while we are excited about our puppet shows, animal visitors, storytelling and Escape Rooms,  the Bogart Library has much to offer  adult patrons, too. Drop by Friday, May 26th, 2023 at noon, for our first Lunch & Learn program of the summer. Cynthia Jameson will present a demonstration and talk about the White Table Ceremony, a moving military tradition to honor those who never returned, just in time for Memorial Day. Bring a bagged lunch. A light dessert and beverages are provided. Return on Tuesday, June 6th, at 1 pm for this month’s Bogart Bookies’ lively discussion of The Red Lotus by Chris Bohjalian. Dr. Penny Mills leads the adult book club with thoughtful, insightful questions and a sense of fun.

History At Its Most Harrowing

Join us again at 6:30 pm, June 13th for An Amazing Escape: The True Tale of Ellen & William Craft.  Professional storyteller Jeanette Waddell will present the harrowing escape of this brave couple from a Middle Georgia plantation to freedom.   The Crafts’ bold ingenuity is considered the most brilliant escape during the pre-Civil War years. Don’t miss this exciting rendition of an amazing true story.

And More

Love mysteries? So do we! Dr. Mills also leads our Mystery Book Club, which meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm. Drop by soon for a copy of the June selection. And while you’re here, don’t forget to take a chance in our Summer Readers’ Drawing. Each time adults visit, attend a program or use our computers, they are entered into a monthly drawing for a book bag, free books and a $25 gift card to a local restaurant. There is something for everyone at the Bogart Library!
