Join us at the Royston Public Library on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! El Timon will be providing food for this event, dances by Tepeyac, arts & crafts by Casa de la Cultura, and the Mendoza Brothers will be performing music! We will also have Hispanic games to play, such as Loteria and La Pirinola with prizes to win.
National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from September 15 to October 15 each year to celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
According to HispanicHeritageMonth.gov, “The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30-day period.”
