Starting Feb. 1, volunteers with AARP Tax-Aide will be at the library offering free income tax filing assistance. Walk-ins are welcome or make an appointment on the Tax-Aide Appointment Reservation website. You do not need to be a member of AARP to receive assistance. The Athens-Clarke County Library has partnered with the local Tax-Aide volunteers since 2015, and hundreds of residents are assisted by these volunteers yearly.
Tax-Aide volunteers are trained and IRS-certified every year to make sure they know about and understand the latest changes and additions to the tax code.
The volunteers will be at the library in Multipurpose Room C on Tuesdays from 12 p.m.-4 p.m. and Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The service runs through April 15.
Federal 1040 and 1040-SR forms and instructions are available in the reference department. While we do not receive the Georgia tax forms, we can print them from the Georgia Department of Revenue for 15 cents per page.
