Family and Local History

Heritage Room

The Heritage Room is located at the Athens-Clarke County Library. This room houses materials on the business, economic, social, cultural, and natural history, politics and government, geology, archaeology, and geography of the local area, Georgia, and the South. The Heritage Room seeks to serve serious students of all ages information relating to Georgia history, local history, and genealogy.

Ivy Room

The Ivy Room for Genealogy and Local History is located in the Oconee County Library in Watkinsville. This room houses materials related to the history of Watkinsville/Oconee County in particular, and of Georgia in general. The Ivy Room seeks to provide resources on local history and genealogy for any individual conducting research, and to foster both research skills and interest in family history by offering basic genealogy courses.
