There is just so much to LOVE this month in the Children's Department of the Athens-Clarke County Library! Join us as we celebrate Valentine's Day, Black History Month and Mardi Gras. We'll start this month off with a bang by bringing in the Chinese New Year at our Dragon Parade: A Chinese New Year Celebration with music and crafts.

Black History Month is here and we are excited to celebrate Harriet Powers, local artist and African-American folk artist. Harriet lived in Clarke County from 1837-1855 and created beautiful narriative quilts based on her life and folk tales. Join us and learn about her story and create a story quilt of your own and see a replica of her work.

If you’re writing a letter to Santa this year, the Library is the place to be. As an official Santa-Letter-Drop-Off-Site, we’ll be sending your letters on to Santa up until December 21st. Look for the special candy cane striped mail box at the Children’s desk and receive a free sticker when you drop off your letter. Then make sure you join us for an amazing evening with master puppeteer David Stephens, for a special evening puppet show of Santa’s Missing Mail, December 7th at 6:30 p.m.
