All Athens Regional Library System branches’ buildings remain closed to the public at this time. We now offer curbside holds pickup and are accepting returns in our book drops, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at most branches. Please contact us at if you have any questions regarding library service during this time. We will update you as more information becomes available.

Spend a magical day of family fun at the Athens-Clarke County Library as we share stories, fairy house building, crafts, face painting, family folk dancing, and more at our 4th Annual Fairy & Elf Festival: Into the Woods! on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 1:00-4:00 pm. Dress up as your favorite fairytale character, all magical creatures are welcome. For ages 3-11 and their caregivers. In the Children’s Area. Begin the day at 1:00 pm with Fairy Family Folk Dancing, then listen to Magical Stories from the Wood at 2:00 pm with master storyteller Jackie Elsner. The Fairy Village opens at 2:30 pm for crafts, activities and fairy house building. Please check the children’s brochure for more details. 

king alfie coverEver wanted to be the ruler of your own kingdom? That is exactly what King Alice becomes!  But will her royal demands cause problems in her kingdom? Come listen to ‘King Alice’ by Matthew Cordell, then take pictures at our royal throne with your decorated crowns on Thursday, April 4th, at 3:30 pm. Costumes are welcomed!

Enjoy Sophie   Blackall’s beautiful picture book ‘Hello, Lighthouse!’ (winner of the 2019 Caldecott Medal), learn about lighthouses, and make a cool lighthouse craft on Saturday, April 6th, at 11:00 am.

childrens caterpillarThe Very Hungry Caterpillar is celebrating his 50th Anniversary by traveling around the country in his cool car! Check out his groovy vehicle, meet the caterpillar himself, make colored-paper collage art, and experience his classic story on Tuesday, April 23, at 10:30 am. This event is proudly co-hosted by the ACC Library and Avid Bookshop. Books will be available for sale.

omu book coverHelp us celebrate Dia! (Children’s Day/Book Day) as we share Caldecott Honor book ‘Thank You Omu!’, and prepare a real storytime stew you can actually eat, with our new culinary kitchen. Omu is Igbo for “queen” and Omu is definitely the queen of the kitchen. All the    neighbors want some of her delicious stew, but will there be enough for everyone? Join Miss Erika and guest Chef Shawanda on Saturday, April 27th, at 11:00 am.
