ATHENS, Ga. — The Children’s Department of the Athens-Clarke County Library invites families to experience Indian culture at the library’s Diwali: Festival of Lights program on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 11:00 a.m.
Families who come to the library’s program will enjoy Indian food and dance. We will also create our own rangoli art! Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights and one of the most popular festivals of Hinduism. It lasts for five days and symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.
This free event is co-hosted by IAGA, the Indian Association of Greater Athens and is designed for children ages 4 to 11 with their caregivers. For more information, call the library at (706) 613-3650 or visit www.athenslibrary.org/athens. The Athens-Clarke County Library is located at 2025 Baxter Street, Athens.
